Sleepy Dog by Uday Alexander

Dog can’t sleep. Dog no sleep much lately. Dog wake in fright, panting. Dog go for walk.

Dog see many Cats on walk. Normally they scared of Dog but at night they look straight into Dog’s soul.

Dog see car hit Cat.

Dog see Cat glow, then rise up, then so high Dog only see speck in sky. Then become small and still, looking down at Dog.

Dog go home. Dog lie in bed and think about Sister. Maybe Sister not gone forever. Maybe Sister just up in sky with all the Cats. And Dog sleep now, properly, without fear.

Uday is a writer and filmmaker with an interest in surrealism and absurdism, living and working in Sydney.
